Not far from Madesimo, just outside Chiavenna, lies one of the most important architectural and artistic attractions in the province of Sondrio: Palazzo Vertemate Franchi. This 16th-century Alpine mansion is one of the most beautiful and prestigious historical residences in Lombardy: built during the Renaissance period, it was continuously inhabited for centuries by the noble Vertemate family and today is a museum site of great interest.
The Palazzo Vertemate complex includes the building, which houses artistic treasures such as frescoes, wooden works, and original historical furnishings, a garden-orchard, and a vineyard cultivated for the production of Vino Passito Vertemate. This mansion, located on the road to Madesimo, is definitely worth visiting to add a touch of culture to a mountain holiday.

Guided tours only: 10:00 am – 11:00 am – 2:30 pm – 3:30 pm – 4:30 pm
Booking is highly recommended.
Open by appointment for groups, even outside regular hours. For groups of more than 15 participants, booking a private guide tour is mandatory.
